Annabelle "Ann" Marie Gibson

July 16, 1931 — January 11, 2011

Ann was born on July 16, 1931, the first child to James and Lois McGuire in Rush City, MN. She was welcomed into the world by her grandparents, Anna and Dominic McGuire and Belle and Frank McGrath. Ann joined her son Joe, sister Erin, and parents in Heaven on January 11, 2011. A devout Catholic, Ann was an ever-present and active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rush City, MN where she received the Holy Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, First Communion, and Marriage. She led and assisted in Eucharistic Adoration, the prayer chain, and prolife ministries. Because of her and Dick’s devotion to the Catholic Church, their faith lives on in their children and grandchildren. Ann attended Rush City Public Schools for grades 1-12 and graduated in 1949. She was accepted into the College of St. Scholastic in Duluth, MN and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education in 1953. Ann taught school in the states of Virginia and Minnesota. Late in her teaching career, she substitute taught in the Rush City Public Schools for ten years. Ann met Dick Gibson of Rosemount, MN, and the two were married in 1964. They have been residents of Rush City for over 40 years. Ann dedicated her life to raising four children and being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She served the community as a member of the Rush City Hospital Board and was a beloved member of the local Red Hat Society. She loved family gatherings, holidays, and celebrations where she was able to cherish the company of children, grandchildren, and relatives. She enjoyed crafting with good friends, keeping in contact with high school and college schoolmates, decorating her home, and baking goodies. Ann was exceedingly proud of her Irish heritage. Ann is survived by her husband Dick, her three children Mary (Mark) Stenger of Rush City, MN; Kate (Tim) Neate of Skull Valley, AZ; and Bill (Bo) Gibson of Isanti, MN. She is survived by nine grandchildren: Meghanne, Molly, Madeline, Michelle, Matt, Sierra, Amber, Sabrina, and Ashley; and five great-grandchildren: Cadence, Timmy, Maxim, Annika, and Dominic. She will also be greatly missed by siblings Pat (Terry) McGuire of Eagan, MN and Leah (Steve) Meyers of Burnsville, MN as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Fathers Ralph Huar and Edwin Savundra will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Ann Gibson; 10:00 a.m. on Monday (January 17, 2011); at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rush City. A time of visitation is scheduled for 1 hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church on Monday, January 17, 2011. Ann Gibson will be interred in the spring in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery of Rush City.
