Jessie “Mary Lou” Lange, age 73, of Pine City, Minnesota, died January 12, 2011 at Eastwood Senior Home in Mora, Minnesota. She was born February 13, 1937 to Harris and Hattie (Rapley) Paggen at Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was the fifth of their seven daughters.
Mary Lou married Lawrence Lange in Northwood, Iowa on August 29, 1953. They lived in Fridley, Circle Pines, and Sunrise, Minnesota prior to moving to Pine City in 1966. Five children were born into their family over the years.
Mary Lou worked at Old Dutch Foods and Sheller Globe for a few years, but was a homemaker for most of her life. Her family was most important to her and she enjoyed crocheting, watching the birds, reading Louis Lamar books, fishing, watching old westerns, playing cards, collecting all kinds of knick-knacks, and writing books.
Mary Lou is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lawrence Lange; son and daughter-in-law: Darrin & April Lange of Pine City; daughter: Darlene Seiler of California; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sisters: Dorothy Ann (Mike) Petyo of Belle Plaine, MN, Jeanette Holmes of Hinckley, MN and Donna May (Lavern) Betts of Circle Pines; several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harris and Hattie Paggen, infant son Russell, son Douglas, daughter Deborah, daughter-in-law Carolyn, sisters Betty, Jo, and Harriet, three grandchildren, and one great granddaughter.Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 17th at Zion Lutheran Church, 410 Main Street South, Pine City. Visitation will be on Sunday evening from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Swanson Funeral Chapel and continue on Monday 1 hour prior to the service at Zion Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Birchwood Cemetery of Pine City.
