Inez Adeline Nelson

June 14, 1923 — February 19, 2011

Inez Adeline Snobeck Nelson died early Saturday morning, February 19, 2011 at Grace Point Crossing, Gables East in Cambridge, Minnesota.  She was 87 years old.Inez was born on June 14th, 1923 to Henry and Besie (Okstad) Snobeck in Gonvick, Minnesota.  She had one sister Bella, and two brothers, Herman and Marvin.  She graduated from high school at the age of 23 from Lutheran Bible School in Fergus Falls, MN.  The delayed graduation date was due to a prolonged illness with a goiter.  She attended Lutheran Bible Institute (most recently called Golden Valley Bible College) in the early 1950’s.Inez met her future husband, Willard Nelson, in 1952 when she needed a ride to visit her family in Gonvick.  After three months of dating, Willard proposed to Inez on Valentine’s Day and got his first kiss.  She was determined to be married before she turned 30, and they were married four months later on June 13, 1953, one day before her 30th birthday. She gave birth to their first child on February 22, 1956 (Mary), their second child arrived January 28, 1960 (Terri), the twins were born May 1, 1961 (John & James), and finally the last boy arrived on September 21, 1962 (Rodney).  With five young children Myrt was a busy mother. While the family was still growing, they bought a home in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.  After about a year of living there, they moved to Wisconsin and rented the home in Brooklyn Park.  After two years, the family moved back to their Brooklyn Park home and lived there from 1962-1998, raising their five children.  Inez enjoyed her flowers and garden.  She was a devoted wife and mother.  They went to church as a family every Sunday.  Inez had the cleanest house and took pride in her children.  Later, she also helped with MOPS because she loved working with kids.  She had a deep faith and commitment to prayer.Willard and Inez sold their home to Rodney and moved to Lee Square condominiums in Robbinsdale until early 2004.  After living with their children for a while, they moved to Hinckley for a year and then Inez to Pine City.  In 2008, Inez moved to Cambridge Grace Pointe to be reunited with Willard.  They have been a great comfort to each other despite their health concerns.  Willard has been her voice to make sure she was taken good care of.  His main concern has always been to care and love her every day since that day back in 1952 when they first met.  They have been a true example of what love looks like lived out.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.Inez is survived by her loving husband Willard, children: Mary (Randy) Hansen of Pine City, Terri (Bill) Sampson of St. Michael, John (Debbie) Nelson of New Brighton, James (Wendy) Nelson of North Minneapolis, and Rodney (Roxanne) Nelson of Brooklyn Park; 18 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; also many other relatives and friends.  Inez was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Besie Snobeck, sister Bella Snobeck, and brothers Herman and Marvin Snobeck.Funeral services were Thursday, February 24th at the New Life Community Church located at 6900 West Fish Lake Road in Maple Grove, Minnesota with Pastor Joel Preston officiating.  Music was provided by Daija Nelson and Liz Gregg.  Interment was at Glen Haven Cemetery in Crystal, Minnesota.  Arrangements were with the Swanson Funeral Chapel of Pine City, Minnesota.
