Mary K. Swenson

Mary married Gene Lloyd Swenson in 1951. The couple traveled extensively during Gene’s military career. Mary was a homemaker and raised their two sons. After their sons were grown, they move to Hinckley, Minnesota and Mary worked at the Pine City nursing home. After Gene’s death she moved to Pine City. Mary was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, a member of the Red Hats and enjoyed working with her quilting club. She also enjoyed embroidery, crocheting and made baby blankets for her grandchildren and cousins. Mary passed away suddenly, March 1, 2011 at St Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota at the age of 78 years. She is survived by her children: Keith (Barbara) Swenson of Volin, South Dakota and Phillip (Robin) Swenson of Hinckley, Minnesota; four grandchildren and one great grandson. She is preceded in death by her parents August and Katherine Olson, infant brother John and her husband Gene. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church in Pine City, 410 Main Street South. Pastor Glen Kleppe will officiate. Music will be provided by Katy Ovick. A time of visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to funeral at church on Saturday and Friday evening from 4-7 p.m. at the Swanson Chapel. Pall Bearers are John E. Von Rueden, Richard Heyda, Mike Ovick, Gary Horns, John Von Rueden and Mickey Ovick. Honorary Pall Bearers are Richard Johnson, Alan Johnson, James Pangerl and Paul Marudas.
