Ruth Mavis Geisler

April 4, 1929 — April 13, 2011

Ruth Mavis Geisler was born April 4, 1929 in Clarkfield, Minnesota. She was the eighth child born to Mae and Julius Lange. Her family moved to a farm east of Pine City when she was 12 years old. She attended Meadow Lawn School and Pine City High School. Ruth married Arthur Geisler January 26, 1947 at the First Lutheran Church in Hinckley, Minnesota. They purchased the Geisler homestead where they farmed and raised their family. Ruth and Art raised twelve children, seven sons and five daughters. She loved spending time with her family, which included fifty-two grandchildren and seventy-two great-grandchildren. Besides being a loving mother and homemaker, she worked for twenty years as a Nurses Aid at Lakeside and as a Foster Grandparent for several years. Ruth loved to be with people, especially children. Her home was open and often filled with other guests as she entertained them with her good cooking. Everyone seemed to enjoy her baked caramel rolls and delicious pies. She also enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. The beautiful roses were a symbol of her tender care. She was an avid reader. But most of all, she loved caring for the grandchildren and being with her family. Ruth and Art were members of Hustletown Community Church for many years. While attending Hustletown Community Church, Ruth made a personal commitment to receive Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and was active in women’s Bible studies. Her greatest joy, was seeing her children and grandchildren come to know God and receive Christ as their Savior. Currently, Ruth is a member of the Pine City Evangelical Free Church. After retirement, Ruth and Art spent much time traveling to see family members throughout the U.S. Some of the places included visits to Colorado, Georgia, Florida, California, Washington, Wyoming and Canada. Ruth thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people and seeing new places. On Wednesday evening, April 13th, at the Rehab Center in Mora with Jill by her side, Ruth left this earthly body quickly and peacefully to be ushered into the presence of Jesus and join Art. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, her parents, Julius and Mae Lange, her five brothers and three sisters, and her daughter-in-law Ruthie.
