Ruth Mavis Geisler was born April 4, 1929 in Clarkfield, Minnesota. She was the eighth child born to Mae and Julius Lange. Her family moved to a farm east of Pine City when she was 12 years old. She attended Meadow Lawn School and Pine City High School.
Ruth married Arthur Geisler January 26, 1947 at the First Lutheran Church in Hinckley, Minnesota. They purchased the Geisler homestead where they farmed and raised their family.
Ruth and Art raised twelve children, seven sons and five daughters. She loved spending time with her family, which included fifty-two grandchildren and seventy-two great-grandchildren. Besides being a loving mother and homemaker, she worked for twenty years as a Nurses Aid at Lakeside and as a Foster Grandparent for several years.
Ruth loved to be with people, especially children. Her home was open and often filled with other guests as she entertained them with her good cooking. Everyone seemed to enjoy her baked caramel rolls and delicious pies. She also enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. The beautiful roses were a symbol of her tender care. She was an avid reader. But most of all, she loved caring for the grandchildren and being with her family.
Ruth and Art were members of Hustletown Community Church for many years. While attending Hustletown Community Church, Ruth made a personal commitment to receive Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and was active in women’s Bible studies. Her greatest joy, was seeing her children and grandchildren come to know God and receive Christ as their Savior. Currently, Ruth is a member of the Pine City Evangelical Free Church.
After retirement, Ruth and Art spent much time traveling to see family members throughout the U.S. Some of the places included visits to Colorado, Georgia, Florida, California, Washington, Wyoming and Canada. Ruth thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people and seeing new places.
On Wednesday evening, April 13th, at the Rehab Center in Mora with Jill by her side, Ruth left this earthly body quickly and peacefully to be ushered into the presence of Jesus and join Art.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, her parents, Julius and Mae Lange, her five brothers and three sisters, and her daughter-in-law Ruthie. She is survived by her children, Gary Geisler and his wife Carol of Coon Rapids, Mn., Duane Geisler and his wife Caralee of Grand Rapids, Mn., Greg Geisler and his wife Vicki of Pine City, Judy and her husband Fielding Smith of Jefferson, Georgia, Janette and her husband David Kejr of Casper, Wyoming, JoAnne and her husband Tom Heppner of Warroad, Mn., Dale Geisler and his wife Gayle of Grand Rapids, Mn., Tim Geisler and his wife Candy of Pine City, Jill and her husband David Sawyer of Mora, Tom Geisler and his wife Gwen of Grand Rapids, Mn., Kevin Geisler and his wife Angela of Grand Rapids, Mn., Jaci and her husband Chuck Broz of Pine City, 52 grandchildren, 72 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 18th at the Pine City Evangelical Free Church Lighthouse ~ 625 Golf Avenue SW, Pine City, MN with Pastor Joel Preston officiating.
Interment will be in the Hustletown Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Sunday evening April 17th from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. also at the Pine City Evangelical Free Church Lighthouse and 1 hour prior to the service on Monday.
