Scott "Radar" Anthony Keyport

September 7, 1960 — April 23, 2011

Scott was born to Maurice & Shirley Keyport and grew up in Kerrick, MN. He grew up camping, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and working with his Dad and brothers in the woods and family sawmill. He also enjoyed Sunday family get togethers at his Grandma Keyport’s with cousins and extended family. After graduating from Askov High School, he attended Pine Technical College for his degree in automotive technology. He had a gift for fixing trucks and cars which along with his integrity made him sought after for his knowledge and expertise. After winning in the Pine City Derby, he switched to working in the pit and made many ‘Radar trany’s’. In 1990, he married Patty (Anderson) Keyport and fulfilled his long held dream of building a log home. Scott did much of the work himself with help from his Dad and brothers. He continued to go on fishing and hunting trips with friends and family. He delighted in sharing his love of the outdoors with his kids including bringing Joe out to watch for deer as a toddler and teaching Katie fishing techniques. After purchasing land with his brothers and building a cabin together using logs from the land milled in his Dad’s sawmill – Scott enjoyed frequent weekend getaways with family. His faith, family and friends were extremely important to him. His proudest moments were watching Joe and Katie growing up and all of their accomplishments. He battled hard against his cancer wanting to be there to see his kids grow up. Scott passed away peacefully in his home. He is survived by his wife Patty and children Joseph & Kathryn. He is also survived by his mom Shirley Keyport, brothers Greg (Diane), Ed (Monica), Chris (Michele) and nieces and nephews: Sarah, Benjamin, Nicholas, Alex, Abigail, Jack, Grace, and Lauren. He was preceded in death by his father Maurice. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28 @ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Pine City.  A Memorial Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 27 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. @ Swanson Funeral Chapel and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.  A private family inurnment will be held in Kerrick, Minnesota.
