Donald Eugene Haare was born January 15, 1964 in Golden Valley MN to Sharon (McRitchie) Haare and Robert Donald Haare, and was welcomed home by a sister, Deborah Mell. He was baptized in Enderlin, North Dakota. Donald spent his first years in Blaine, playing hockey. When he was 13, his mom and dad purchased a resort and moved the family to Rush City, MN. Life at Martin’s Resort brought many new adventures, and many, many new friends. Donald spent time doing chores such as mowing lawn, washing dishes and mopping the floor, but spent even more time playing pool with friends. He enjoyed being in school, and had a contagious school spirit. When his parents moved north, Don chose to stay in Rush City and finished his senior year of school, living with John Mell during this time.
When he graduated from High School, he moved back to Blaine and went to MN School of Business, graduating with a 2 year associate degree in Accounting and Data Entry. In the years that followed, Donnie roamed around, working many different jobs and living in many different places. In 1997 he started working for a cell phone company called Ariel, which is now T-Mobile. It was during this time that he met many acquaintances which became very good friends.
When Don’s nieces, Lindsey and Emily, were born, he played a huge role in their lives, and when Caleb was born, he was always around to lend a hand. He took them on many road trips, and of course came to see them in their sports activities and cheered them on with much enthusiasm. And when Chelsey and Zach joined our family, our fun times just increased that much more. He loved the kids unconditionally and always supported them.
Once he felt established he purchased a small farm in Sandstone. With lots of help from friends and family his farm blossomed into a wonderful home that he was very proud of.
Don had many hobbies and wore many hats. He enjoyed motorcycles, horses, fishing, deer hunting coon hunting, and snowmobiling. He renovated his house, garage, and was in the process of fixing his prize big red barn. Whenever he was able he had a pet, with his latest being, a dog, with the name of Thunder, two cats named Mattie and Brunswick, and a horse named Bailey.
Don suffered from an autoimmune disorder all of his life which created difficult health issues for him. He was always checking to make sure he had his little medicine bag. Donald made the most of everyday and enjoyed life to the fullest, and shared himself unconditionally. Don lived in the moment. If you needed a friend, he would be there to support you. And when you would say so long, he would always leave you with….”have a good day.”
