Karl Robert Rogalla Sr.

March 2, 1927 — May 22, 2011

Bob was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, and grew up on the east-side of the city. In 1943, at the age of sixteen, he attended St. Paul Technical School to learn the trade of watch-making. In May 1951, he married Marjorie Anne Beane, and they moved to Pine City in 1955. There he started his own jewelry and watch repair store. After attending night school, he began working with Rosemount Engineering. However, his dream had always been to own and operate his own resort. His dream was realized in 1975 when he purchased the Van Cleve Resort in Northwestern Minnesota. The resort was under his care until 1995 when he moved back to St. Paul to restore his parents’ family home. He moved back to the Pine City area to live with his daughter in 2007 and remained in her home until he passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday night. Bob loved spending time in the outdoors- he had a passion for both hunting and fishing. He also loved remodeling and handiwork. He restored one cabin on Cross Lake and some others near his resort on Jessie Lake. Bob is preceded in death by his parents Magdalen and Albert Rogalla, his Brother Jerry, and his wife Marjorie. He is survived by his daughter Patty Stedman, son Rob (Peggy) Rogalla, daughter Connie (Wendall) Kersting, daughter Margie (Dean) Dunbar, son Greg (Renata) Rogalla, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City from 5:00 - 8:00 PM.  A memorial graveside service will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery in St. Paul at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 27, 2011.Arrangements are with the Funeral and Cremation Service, Swanson Chapel of Pine City. www.funeralandcremationservice.com
