Kriemhilde Johnson

Hilde Johnson of Greeley, Minnesota, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on June 2, 2011, at the age of 74. Hilde was born in Odernheim, Germany on May 1, 1937 to William and Klara Fey. Hilde learned how to speak English by watching television. She attended naturalization classes to become a United States citizen and accomplished her goal in the early 1960’s. In 1961 she moved to Minnesota to marry Duane Johnson of Shakopee. She worked at UNIVAC and they started their family in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. In 1974 the family moved to Rush City, Minnesota where Hilde worked at Plastech Corporation in Rush City for many years and was also a home health aide. She liked to bring her German heritage to those who knew her, and enjoyed sharing her German heritage with others. Hilde was a great entertainer and enjoyed having friends in her home. Every October she would prepare potatoe pancakes for her German friends. She enjoyed teaching a Rush City Community Education class on making candy houses. She also liked knitting, crocheting, loom work, entertaining, and reading. She was a member of a knitting club, and one by one formed a German club. Hilde Johnson is survived by her children: Judy (Dwayne) Stanley of Greeley, Jeff Johnson of Brooklyn Center, Jennifer Johnson of Stacy, Jason (Micki) Johnson of Rush City, Jeannette Carmichael of Greeley, Jon (Sarah) Johnson of Fredonia, New York; 19 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Klara Fey, her brother Emil Fey and her grandson Brian Damann. A funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Lyn Sahr, 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, (June 7, 2011) at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City, Minnesota. A time of visitation and reviewal is scheduled for Monday evening (June 6, 2011) from 5-8 p.m. at the Olson Chapel. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
