Tom and Cheryl were married June 20, 1981. They had 30 wonderful years of marriage. They first lived in Stanchfield, Minnesota and then moved to Rush City and eventually to Forest Lake where they built a home. Josh came along in 1989 and Travis followed in 1991. Eventually the family moved back to Rush City in 1991. Tom loved Rush City and wanted his boys to go to the Rush City Schools. Tom thought a lot of the Rush City School District. Tom and Cheryl bought their current home in Rush City in 1993 and have resided there ever since. Tom enjoyed his family very much and was very proud of his boys. He and Cheryl enjoyed watching them grow into nice young men and especially liked watching the boys play hockey and baseball. Tom enjoyed the outdoors; fishing and bird watching. He loved to sit on his front steps reading the morning paper but will be remembered for always being on the move; running and walking around town. Josh and Travis said that "he never sat still." Tom loved having BBQ's with friends; getting together with friends and sharing lots of stories. Tom was a great karoke singer and we all loved to hear him sing his famous song....."Henry the Eighth I Am!" He really enjoyed music and you could almost always bet if there was a good band in town he would be there. He also was a good story-teller and could remember things from back in his younger years. Tom and Cheryl enjoyed their camping trips with friends. Their camping partners were Jon and Kim Sarago. Jon had nicknamed Tom the "Mad German". He loved to sit around the fire and tell stories or just have a good conversation. He was always the early riser to get the coffee on for Cheryl. Tom also enjoyed his involvement with the Rush City High School athletics; holding the chains for the Rush City High School football team...something he has done for the past 20 years. He was an active member of the Rush City Jaycees. At age 14, tom started working at Gilberts Gas Station in Rush City. Later on in life, Tom and Cheryl purchased this "Tank and Tackle" Gas Station which they operated for about a year. Tom worked as a printer most of his adult life, beginning with Harland Check Printers, working for them fifteen years. He later worked for Liberty Checks for eight years and presently was employed with Olympac of Mora, Minnesota. Tom was a very good friend and will be sadly missed by all who loved him. Every time we hear music we will think of Tom. He will always be in our hearts.
