Sharon May Henschel was born to Jim and Lois Youngbauer on June 28, 1953, at the Braham Hospital. She was raised on the family farm in Pine City and attended elementary and middle school in West Rock. Sharon graduated from Pine City High School in 1971.She met the love of her life, David Henschel, in the tenth grade. They were married at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Pine City on September 23, 1972, and remained active supporting members. They have resided in Pine City since they were married. Together they had two children, Peter and Ranee. Sharon treasured being a grandma and will always be remembered as “Grandma Pop.”
She enjoyed her career as an interior designer and was co-owner of The PaperDolls since 1978, along with her sister, Sue. Sharon’s creativity extended to all facets of her life. She was known for her decorating flare, love of chickens, garage sales, and her fun mittens, twittens and scarves. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially at their cabin in northern Minnesota and vacationing in warm, sunny places. Sharon discovered her passion for golf twenty years ago and enjoyed her extended golf family and longtime golf partner, Cindy Novy.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 39 years, David Henschel of Pine City, son Peter (Rhonda) Henschel of Minnetonka, MN; daughter Ranee (Jon) Madison of Bismarck, ND; grandson Carter Madison; mother Lois (Kenny) Youngbauer; sisters Sue (Mark) Osterdyk and Robin (Scott) Wimmer; brothers Mike (Sheila) Youngbauer, Pat Youngbauer, Marty Youngbauer, and Matt Youngbauer; sister-in-law Laura (Jack) Klar; brother-in-law Bill (Barb) Risse, many nieces, nephews, and friends. Sharon is preceded in death by her father Jim Youngbauer; in-laws Dan Henschel, Ruth Henschel, Dick Henschel, and Louise Risse; and her grandparents. Reverend Ron Boettner will officiate funeral services on Friday, July 29, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Pine City. The visitation service will be held Thursday, July 28, 2011 at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City from 4:00-8:00 PM and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Inurnment will follow the funeral at the Johnson Memorial Cemetery of West Rock.
