Linda Marie Swanson of Royalton Township died Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Rush City, MN, having reached the age of 61 years.
Linda Swanson was born in Braham, Minnesota, on May 25, 1950 to Melville and Anita (Stirts) Swanson. She was raised in the Stark area with her brother and sisters. Linda graduated from the North Branch High School.
Linda met and married Gerald “Jerry” Swanson in 1970 in Watertown, South Dakota. The couple lived In the Harris area until 1979 when they moved east of Beroun. In 1984 Linda and Jerry moved to Royalton Township.
Linda worked as a cook at the Rock Creek Café and was a nurse’s aid at the Cambridge State Hospital in Cambridge and Lakeside Nursing Home in Pine City.
She was a devoted mother and an avid animal lover; raising chickens, ducks, geese, rabbits and cattle. She also enjoyed gardening; growing flowers, wood carving, painting and drawing pictures.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents Melville and Anita Sundeen and her brother Martin Sundeen. She is survived by her husband Jerry Swanson, children: Matthew (Sandy) Swanson of Kerrick, MN, Cynthia Swanson (Nathan Chavez) of Wichita Falls, Texas; grandchildren: Lillian Chavez, Emma Lee Chavez, Tom Smith, Jonathon Smith, Rio Smith; brother John Sundeen (Becky Nelson) of Clear Lake, Wisconsin; sisters Linnea (Lester) Gruver of North Branch, Margaret (Craig) Nordstrom of Richmond, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews.
Pastor Lyn Sahr will officiate at a memorial service: 6:00 p.m. Friday (8/26/11) at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City.
A time of visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the service at the Olson Chapel in Rush City.
