Lucille Marie Johnson

December 21, 1947 — September 25, 2011

Lucille Johnson of Pine City died Sunday at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the age of 63 years. For those who knew Lucille, they called her Lou or Lucy.  She was born in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, but grew up in Weyerhauser, Wisconsin.  After marrying Marlowe in 1965, they moved to Minnesota.  Marlowe and Lou settled in Circle Pines to raise their two daughters, Karrie and Kim.  Lou became the “cool” mom in the neighbor so their house was always full of friends.  She enjoyed taking her family camping, fishing, and on road trips.  She relaxed by knitting, crocheting, and gambling.  Many of her nieces and nephews received gifts made from her love.   After constantly being called “mom”, “auntie”, or “auntie Lou”, she choose to change her name to “Ms. Mud”.  For those who new her the best she stayed “Ms. Mud” from that day forward.  After her daughters left to begin their lives as adults, Marlowe and Lou moved to Pine City.  They carved out a little spot on the edge of the woods to create their retirement home.   She enjoyed raising her cats and watching the birds from her kitchen and living room windows.  She wasn’t very fond of the bears who wanted to share a snack, but she would never turn them away.  She held fast to her beliefs while sharing her opinions.  “Dessert first, you can always take dinner home.” “Family above all, you only get one.”  She loved everyone in her life to “infinity and beyond” which she received in return.  To describe her in one word, most would choose “Priceless”. Lucille Johnson is survived by her husband Marlowe Johnson, daughters Karrie (Paul) Rohweller of Hitterdal, Minnesota, Kim (Corey) David of Le Center, Minnesota, granddaughter Allison Rohweller, brother Irvin (Linda) Woodruff of Juneau, Wisconsin, sisters: Georgia (Frank) Guerra of Rockford, Illinois, Joy (Ed) Gillespie of Joplin, Missouri, Marlene (Randy) Smith of Minneapolis, Minnesota, brother-in-law Steve Plato of Horicon, Wisconsin, and many nieces and nephews. Pastor Lyn Sahr will officiate at Lucille’s memorial service; 2:00 p.m. Friday (9/30/11) at the Swanson Chapel in Pine City. A time of visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the service.
