Richard George Schneider was born September 2, 1934 in Rush City, MN to George and Josephine(Schunicht) Schneider.
Richard “Dick” Schneider passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at his home on Rush Lake; September 29, 2011 at the age of 77 years.
Dick lived his entire life in Rush City! He attended and graduated from Rush City High School, attended St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN and graduated from St. Cloud State College with a bachelor of arts degree in Business.
Dick served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era. He was stationed in Germany for several years and returned to Rush City to work side by side with his dad George in the family business; Schneider Chevrolet/Buick Dealership.
In 1967, Dick married Elaine Stoffel of Pine City, MN and the couple moved to Shorewood Park on East Rush Lake; where they have lived for the past 44 years. Dick loved to restore vintage cars and was proud of his collection. He also enjoyed working in the yard; trimming shrubs and trees in his own yard, neighbor’s yards, church and cemetery properties.
After retirement, Dick and Elaine built their dream home in Punta Gorda, Florida. They spent many winters in Florida returning to Minnesota in the spring. Dick loved Florida; especially their swimming pool, all the friends and relative who came to visit plus the new Florida friendships they made during their winters.
In November of 2009, Dick was diagnosed with stomach cancer and had major surgery at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. In July of 2011, the cancer returned and in less than three months, took his life.
Dick is survived by his wife Elaine, sister Shirley Trossen of St. Paul, MN, brothers-in-law; Dick (Marianne) Stoffel of Palmer, Alaska, Ron (Chris) Stoffel of Grand Rapids, MN, sister-in-law Judy (Les) Zastera of Grasston, MN, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Dick in death are his parents, George & Josephine Schneider and his brother-in-law Duane Trossen.
Father Edwin Savundra, Father Ralph Huar and Father Xavier Thelakkott will con-celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday (10/4/11) at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a time of visitation and reviewal one hour prior to the service at the church and Monday evening from 4-8 pm at the Olson Funeral Chapel.
Interment will be at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Rush City.
