Jonathan Charles Rinden, 43, died Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at Season’s Hospice, Rochester, MN, of colon cancer. A funeral service will be held at Rochester Assembly, 4240 18th Avenue NW, Rochester, Sunday, October 16, 4 p.m. with visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Jonathan Rinden was born, May 25, 1968, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, to David and Gracia Rinden. He graduated from Moorhead State University with a degree in business and became a builder and licensed realtor. Currently he was in his last year of training at Rochester Community and Technical College to become a registered nurse.
Family trips and activities were among his favorite things to do; as was building. He built homes for his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, himself, and his parents, including a cabin at the family property on Island Lake. He built an addition to his parents’ home while still in college. His love of the Scriptures and his Christian faith were evident in his life. He memorized many New Testament passages.
He is survived by his wife, DuRanda, and daughters Brie, Liddi, and Quinn, Rochester; his parents, David and Gracia Rinden, Rochester; sisters, Elizabeth (Michael) Hahn and children, Ingrid, Henry, and Greta, Mount Bethel, PA; Amy (Wayne) Pafko, and children, Charlotte, Benjamin, and Julia, Marshall, MN; mother-in-law, Darleen Koch, Bismarck, ND; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Randy and Tana Koch and children, Shelby, Reagan, and Afton, Jordan, MN; uncle, Dan (Mary) Rinden; aunts, Mary (Rollin) Tonneson, Souris, ND, Martha (Mark) Jarvinen, Rosemount, MN, Faith (Donald) Norstrud, Roseville, MN, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Oscar and Iva Rinden and Harvey and Hazel Carlson; his father-in-law, Steven Koch; and an aunt, Sharon Carlson Dyrud.
