Clara Elizabeth Pugsley

Clara Elizabeth (Mason) Pugsley, 91 of Pine City, died Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at the Lakeside Medical Center in Pine City. Clara was born in Algona, Iowa on September 2, 1920 to Charles and Alva (Schlagel) Mason. She was the third of eight children. Clara met Donald Lavern Pugsley in high school; they were married on October 18, 1937 and started married life in Elmore, Minnesota. They moved then to Iowa, Missouri and back to Iowa again before settling on a farm north east of Rush City, Minnesota in 1954. She enjoyed having a large garden and taking care of her family. Clara was an active member in her church and neighborhood. She was always willing to help out anyone that asked, and loved to entertain. Her house was always the favorite place for the neighborhood kids to come for a party. One of her favorite pastimes was having coffee with friends. Clara is survived by her children: Barbara G. Pugsley of Pine City, Charlotte (Del) Johnston of White Bear Lake, Norma (Bob) Gable of South Minneapolis, Lawrence (Carol) Pugsley of Verndale, Betty Gilbey of Pine City, daughter-in-law Pat Pugsley of Hugo, 12 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, Sister Beverly (Robert) Wessel of Michigan, brother Cecil (Johnetta) Zweifel of Kentucky; many nieces, nephews and friends Clara is preceded in death by her parents Charles & Alva Mason, husband Donald Pugsley, son Donald "Ross" Pugsley, daughter-in-law Barbara E. Pugsley, son-in-law Lloyd Gilbey Reverend Keith Puglisi will officiate at Clara's funeral service; 1:30 p.m., Sunday, December 4, 2011 at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City. A time of visitation and reviewal will be held one hour before the funeral on Sunday. The interment will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery in Rush City, Minnesota.
