Mary Ellen Phipps

Mary Ellen Phipps, age 78, of Pine City, formerly of Saint Paul, passed away on February 9, 2012, in her home surrounded by family, after a short battle with cancer. Mary was born May 1, 1933 in Baldwin, Wisconsin to Russell and Ada (Fern) Boumeester. Mary lived most of her adult years in St. Paul. Along with her husband Clifford, they purchased a trailer at Woischke's on Pokegama Lake as a second home. They liked the area so well that after a few years they decided to move to Pine City permanently. She spent the last 11 years of her life there. Mary enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and an occasional trip to the casinos. She is survived by her husband Clifford, her children Duane and his wife Donna of St. Paul, Kevin and his wife Holly of St. Paul, Gloria and her husband Charles of Lino Lakes, Lisa of Pine City, Michael and his wife Nichole of Pine City, grandchildren Christopher, Stephanie, Heather, Jacob, and Samantha, brothers Glen and his wife Alice of Baldwin, Wisconsin, Richard and his wife Hilda of Florida, Barbara of St. Paul and Jean. Mary was preceded in death by her parents Russell and Ada Boumeester, a son Mark and a sister Virginia. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, February 16 at Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City with Rev. Ron Boettner officiating.  A Memorial Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the chapel.  Inurnment will be in the Birchwood Cemetery of Pine City. Funeral arrangements were with the Funeral and Cremation Service ~ Swanson Chapel, Pine City.
