Harry was born June 17, 1916 in Amery, Wisconsin. He was adopted at the age of four years and endured a very difficult childhood.
In 1941, Harry moved to Los Angeles, California, and convinced the love of his life, Delores Rediger, to come to Los Angeles, where they were married on January 25, 1942.
Harry enlisted in the United States Navy on October 6, 1943, and received an honorable discharge at the United States Naval Yard, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on December 2, 1945 as a Fireman First Class.
Following his discharge, Harry and Delores returned to St. Paul. Harry used his basic mechanic skills and enrolled in draftsman school at Dunwoody in St. Paul. He worked in sheet metal, drafting, and layout, and in 1981 retired from Specialty Engineering.
Harry and Delores continued to live in St. Paul until 2010 when they moved to Rush City, Minnesota to be nearer their daughter.
During their 70 years of marriage, Harry and Delores were blessed with three children. Harry was a great family man and was truly devoted to the care and support of his family. He always had time to take the family swimming at Wilder Pool, play catch, and go roller skating. His family was his hobby and he spent his life making them happy. He also loved to fish and play pool. He had a great sense of humor and everyone enjoyed his quick wit and jokes which his children call "Harney Jokes".
