Georgia Gertrude Hertenstein

Georgia Hertenstein of Pine City passed away at her home on Cross Lake, on March 5, 2012, at the age of 73 years. Georgia was born in Superior, WI on April 3, 1938 to parents Helen and George Richards. She graduated from Superior High School in 1956. On May 18, 1958, she was married to Joe Hertenstein of Rush City. Their son Jere was born August 10, 1959. Joe worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad for 12 years so the family moved around a lot during the first years of their marriage. The family settled in Abingdon, IL in 1966 when Joe took a job with General Telephone of Illinois. Georgia worked at the Abingdon High School cafeteria and after a few years she became the manager of the cafeteria. While in Abingdon, Georgia and Joe adopted a son, Terry. Joe got a chance to retire early from his job with the Telephone Company and Georgia & Joe moved back to Minnesota in 1992. Georgia said it saved a lot of trips back and forth to Minnesota to be with family. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Joe Hertenstein of Pine City, sons: Jere Hertenstein and wife (Kathleen) of St. Paul, Terry Hertenstein of Gig Harbor, Washington; grandchildren: Joseph, Patrick, Cody and Seth Hertenstein; sister Carol Buchli and her husband Vern of Fridley, nephew Kenneth Johnson and his wife Chris of Fridley, niece Dianna Johnson of Fridley, great niece Ashley and great nephew Zach. Georgia is preceded in death by her parents George & Helen Richards. Rev. Ron Boettner will officiate at a memorial service for Georgia Hertenstein; 6:00 p.m. Tuesday (March 20, 2012) at the Swanson Chapel in Pine City. A time of visitation is planned for two hours prior to the service Tuesday evening. Memorials are preferred to the Fairview Hospice Program, Pine City Food Shelf, and the Multiple Sclerosis Association Funeral arrangements for Mrs. Georgia Hertenstein of Pine City are entrusted to the: Funeral and Cremation Service of Pine City; Swanson Chapel
