Jean Ann Hogan was born July 7, 1935 in Aberdeen, South Dakota to Arthur and Magdalene Hogan.
She attended Sacred Heart primary school and Central High School in Aberdeen. After graduation, she went on to nursing school at South Dakota State College. She
graduated with an advanced diploma in nursing and began her career as a registered nurse.
She married Martin M. Kane in 1959. They continued living in South Dakota until moving to Rosemount, Minnesota in 1970 where they raised their five children.
Jean coordinated Meals on Wheels and was active in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives. Jean was an accomplished pianist and was active in the community.
Jean loved being a mother and grandmother. Her family was very special to her.
Jean died peacefully surrounded by family at her home on Friday, March 9, 2012.
She is survived by her children: Elizabeth Kane, Sean Kane, Sheila Kane, Martin (Dawn) Kane, Carolyn Kane; grandchildren: Rachel Kane, Nicholas Kane, Bobby Rogers, Brian Rogers, Hunter LaBate, Maeve Kane, Matt Kane; brother Brian (Jamie Schwingel) Hogan, many nieces and nephews.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Magdalene (Frison) Hogan, sister Sheila McKay, and brother Bart Hogan.
A Celebration of Life memorial visitation for family and friends is planned for April 19, 2012 from 12-5 p.m. at Lebanon Hills Retreat Center located at: 5121 McAndrews Road, Apple Valley MN 55124.
