Michael George Kaltenhauser of Rush City, passed away April 12th in St. Paul, MN, at the age of 69.
Mike was born June 12, 1942 in Hinckley, MN to George and Kathleen (Brennan)Kaltenhauser.
He moved to Rush City at the age of five, attended and graduated from Rush City School in 1960.
Most of his adult life he drove truck. But he also worked at the Stillwater Prison, Veteran’s Hospital, and attended Auctioneer School in Montana. He enjoyed auctioning with Jim Wright and Chuckie Olson at horse sales throughout Minnesota.
He was a proud father of four children; Missi, Mark, Melinda Kaltenhauer, and Justin Hetherington. Nine Grandchildren; Michael, Jeffrey, Alissa and Alison Kaltenhauser, Jenn Coury, Logan Johnson, Kristin Lafontaine, Alaina Hetherington, and Olivia Sorenson.
He loved telling stories about his grandchildren and the cute things that they did. He was a wonderful story teller, his gift of gab was surely from his Irish heritage. The bit of stubbornness was most certain from his German ancestry. Prior to becoming disabled, Mike loved to hunt and fish. Especially with his cousin Mary Jane’s husband DuWayne (Dewy) Dahl. He also enjoyed when his grandson, Michael, would spend his summers with Laurel and him in South Dakota. In recent years, he enjoyed visiting with friends and family whenever possible and never turned down a cup of coffee.
Mike is survived by children; Melissa (Kevin) Lafontaine of Eagan, Mark (Jess) Kaltenhauser of Rush City, Melinda (Alex) Kaltenhauser of Eagan, and Justin (Carrie) Hetherington of St. Paul; Nine Grandchildren; Sisters Kathy (Jack) Anderson of Braham and Jill Hegg of Rush City; Aunts Delphine Monroe of Maple Plain and Gladys Kaltenhauser of Lindstrom; and many Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and friends Laurel Carey and Dawn Hetherington.
A memorial service will be held at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City on Friday, April 20th, 2012 at 11:00 am, visitation one hour prior, with Pastor Laurie O’Shea officiating.
The interment will take place at Rosehill Cemetery in Hinckley, MN.
