On July 9, 2012, Robert V. Born (Bob) passed away after a long battle with Emphysema at the Burnett Medical Continuing Care Center in Grantsburg, WI, where he resided for the past three months.
Bob was born November 27, 1936 to Victor and Margaret (Bosacker) in Faribault, MN.
Bob’s early years were spent on two farms located near Woodstock and Lake Wilson, MN. His family later moved into the town of Lake Wilson where Bob graduated from Lake Wilson High School in 1954. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force December of 1954, serving in Oakland CA, Wichita Falls TX, Tooley Greenland and Lockbourne AFB, in Columbus, Ohio. He was honorably discharged in August 1959.
He married Lorraine Anderson in August, 1955. Three children were born in this union, Robert S., Colleen and Christine. They made their home in the Twin Cities, MN.
After his military service he enrolled at Northwest Electronics (Brown Institute) in Minneapolis and began working for Ault Incorporated.
He moved to Rock Creek in 1975 and purchased a lot near the St. Croix River. He later purchased a farm east of Rock Creek and began raising crops and sheep. It was long awaited dream fulfilled to live once again on a farm and work the land. In 1978 he began working for L&G Products Company, Inc. in Rock Creek. He was the Director of Engineering Support, machine shop foreman, and worked in sales. Bob retired in 2009
Bob is survived by son Bob Born and his wife Randi of Plymouth; daughters: Colleen Born of Minneapolis, Christine Gerber and her husband Mark of St. Peter; grandchildren Matthew and Derek Born of Plymouth, brother John Born and his wife Karen of Aitkin, sister Margo Devlin of Crystal, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents Victor and Margaret Born.
Pastor Joel Preston will officiate memorial services for Bob Born at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City. Music will be provided by Willie Freitag. A time of visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. also at the Swanson Funeral Chapel.
