Derek Michael Rootkie

Derek Rootkie #56 of Pine City passed away on September 8, 2012, after a courageous battle. He was 18 years old. He is survived by his parents: Jody Spychalla and her husband Pete of Pine City, and Pat Rootkie of Pine City; siblings Haven Spychalla and Alex Rootkie; grandparents Lid Nordrum of Grantsburg, WI, Cary Rootkie and his wife Janet of Pine City; great grandparents Paul Rootkie and his wife Gert of Pine City; step grandparents: Carol Servaty, Pete (Meg Berger) Spychalla, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Funeral services for Derek Rootkie are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday September 14, 2012 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Pine City. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday evening (9/13/12) from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Hilltop Cemetery of Pine City, Minnesota. Arrangements were entrusted to the: Funeral and Cremation Service ~ Swanson Chapel of Pine City.
