John "Jack" Lawrence Henry

John Lawrence Henry "Jack" of Rush City, passed away at his home in Rush City, September 11, 2012 at the age of 73. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Roxy; sisters Virginia Hudak, Sheila (Bruce) Mashuga, Sheryl Rau all of Minneapolis, nephews, neices, other relatives and friends. Jack grew up in Northeast Mpls and graduated from Edison High School where he was active in hockey and football. In the fall of 1956, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was a signal man on an aircraft carrier in the Pacific Ocean. After his tour of duty ended, Jack returned to Minneapolis to start his career with the railroad. He took a job working as a switchman for the Soo Line Railroad for the next 28 years. In 1988, after several job related accidents Jack became disabled. He was a car enthusiast, especially muscle cars. He also enjoyed anything and everything about the history of WW II, watching football, going to the movies or watching them on T.V. He maried his wife Roxy, July of 1977 and they made their home on a small hobby farm in Rush City. Jack enjoyed planting flowers, yard work and working on his cars. He will be sadly missed, especially by his wife Roxy, who not only lost her loving husband but also her best friend and soulmate. Rev. John Beck will officiate at funeral services; 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the Olson Funeral Chapel. Music will be provided by organist Pat Stenmo and soloist Fred Meissner. A time of visitation and reviewal will be held on Friday evening from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Olson Funeral Chapel. The interment will be in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery of Rush Lake with military honors provided by the Grothe-Jacobson VFW post # 6692 of Rush City and the Minnesota National Guard. Casket bearers include nephews Kip Hudak, Bruce Mashuga and friends Jim Thorn, Ken Opatz, Gary Klein and Dan Sperry.
