Janet Lavonne Scullard

Janet Scullard, 75, passed away peacefully on September 18th, 2012 while surrounded by her family after a short and courageous battle with brain cancer. She was born May 25, 1937, to Valerie and William Stanley. She was married to Louis Scullard for 58 years. To this wonderful union of marriage, 8 children were born. She had a long list of activities that kept her life busy and fulfilled. The first one was her husband Louis and a close second was her family. Over the years she enjoyed attending sporting events and concerts that her children and grandchildren were a part of. In her time at home, she enjoyed crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles while her favorite TV shows were on in the background. A good card game was also high on her list of favorite things to do. The cookie jar was always full and a pan of bars always on the counter. She also enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino. Her true passion was her lawn. She was very meticulous about how the lawn was mowed and no one could ever quite do it like her. It was also not uncommon to see her outside after every snowfall snowblowing the driveway. She took great pride in her flower gardens, she loved to grow lots of beautiful flowers. She also loved to decorate for the holidays. Halloween and Christmas were among her favorite, and you could always tell when the holidays were near by all the decorations in the yard. Janet and Louis enjoyed fishing, whether it was in the summer or the winter, it gave her great pleasure to reel them in. In recent years, Janet and Louis discovered their love for traveling. As they grew older they decided the Minnesota winters were too cold for them so they went to San Diego, California to spend the winter months. The most recent trip they took was to Las Vegas in July of this year. She even came home with a little more money than what she left with. Janet is survived by her husband Louis, children and spouses Mary, William (Pat), Cathy (Marvin), Robert (Diane), James, Jeffrey (Julie), Joseph (Bonnie), 17 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren, sisters and spouses Billie, Margaret (Bob), Joan (Greg), brother Patrick, brother-in-law Richard Scullard, and many nieces and nephews and other relatives. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law Josephine Scullard, father-in-law Louis Scullard, brother Mike Stanley, sister-in-law Dorothy Scullard, grandson Corey Monster, daughter-in-law Becky Scullard and her infant son David Scullard. The Scullard family would also like to send a special thank you to all the staff and caretakers at Meadows on Fairview Assisted Living in Wyoming, Minnesota for their care and compassion throughout this difficult time. There will be a memorial visitation at the Hinckley Community Center from noon until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 23, 2012. An inurnment will follow at a later date in the Rosehill Cemetery in Hinckley. Arrangements were entrusted to the Funeral and Cremation Service ~ Olson Chapel, Rush City.
