Harriet
Katherine Moulton, 98, of North Branch, MN, passed away peacefully November 14,
2012 at Ecuman of North Branch.
Harriet
was born July 28, 1914 in Rush City, MN to David John (D.J.) and Clementine
McKay. She was the fourth of five children.
She
attended the McKay School through fifth grade and Rush City Schools through
graduation.
Harriet
was united in marriage to Jay Deans Moulton on January 1, 1941. They were
married for 52 years until Jay passed away in October 1992. They farmed in Rock
Creek, MN. Harriet was a busy farm wife, milking cows, gardening, canning and
raising their three children – Mary Lou, Donald and David. She started working
for Plastech Corporation in Rush City, MN in 1968, where she handled
secretarial duties for over 15 years.
She was an
avid sports fan and enjoyed watching her favorite teams: the Minnesota Twins
and the Minnesota Timberwolves. She also enjoyed playing Scrabble, Dominos and
many different card games. Over the years, she taught many people how to play
cribbage. She spent her summers at Pathfinder Village, where she made many
friends and memories. Harriet loved to bake and she shared that passion by
baking and frosting Christmas cookies with her grandchildren and great
grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling,
gardening and socializing.
At a youth
conference Harriet made a commitment to Christ, to do whatever He would ask and
to go where He would send her. Her call was not to go to a foreign country; she
was called to be a wife, mother, and friend. She was active in Christian
Women’s Club and Pine City Evangelical Free Church; she witnessed and
influenced many lives throughout her life.
She is
survived by sons, Donald (Brenda) Moulton and David (Hope) Moulton, all of Rush
City; son-in-law Arthur (Annette) Cernohous of Greenfield, Wisconsin;
Grandchildren Paul (Cindy) Cernohous, Pam (Curt) Justus, Rick (Kristine)
Moulton, Heidi (Todd) Miller, Josh (Darcy) Moulton and Kimberly (Chris)
Plourde; 12 great-grandchildren; sister Georgia Gaustad; and many nieces and
nephews.
She was
preceded in death by her Husband Jay and daughter Mary Lou Cernohous.
A visitation with reviewal will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 16, 2012 at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City.Pastor
Joel Preston will officiate the memorial service celebrating Harriet’s life at
10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at the Pine City Evangelical Free
Church Lighthouse. Music will be provided by Gene & Karen Carlson and Virginia
Shuey. Inurnment is at William Taylor
Cemetery of Rush City.
Memorials
are preferred to Pine City Evangelical Free Church Building for Life Fund.
