Ethel Parish died peacefully on November 19, 2012, at Northside Elder Estate in Stratford, WI. She had been living near her grandson, Max, in Marshfield for the last nine years. Special thanks to Max, his wife, Brooke, and their children, Abby and Alex, for all they did for her.
Ethel was born near Pine City, MN on February 23, 1919, the fourth of 11 children of Henry and Anna (Meissner) Kurzhal. She married Floyd Anderson in 1941 and they had three children, Audrey, Sandra, and Donald. She was later married to Roy Olson on March 11, 1950, and they had two children, Dayla and Kevin. They were married for 32 years before Roy passed away in 1982, and she married Richard Parish in 1983.
She and Richard were world travelers, visiting Canada, Europe, Japan, India, Thailand, and Hong Kong. Ethel loved to cook, bake, play cribbage, do crafts, and dance the polka.
She is survived by her children: Don (Jackie) Anderson of Largo, FL, Dayla (Lorin) Weiler of Prairie du Sac, WI, Kevin (Pat) Olson of Evinston, FL; grandchildren: Sheree Kelly of Petaluma, CA, James Anderson of Boston, MA, Jonathan Anderson of Palm Harbor, FL, Damian Hawkins of Baraboo, WI, Max Hawkins (Brooke) of Hartford, WI, Kirsten Olson of Whitewater, WI, Ryan Olson of Park Falls, WI, and Seth Olson (Sharena) of Cumberland, WI; great grandchildren: Drew, Abby, and Alex Hawkins, Devon and Brennan Fennell, Audryna, Lilyja, Ian, Jared, and Andi Olson. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Theresa (Terry) Kurzhal, and many nieces and nephews.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husbands: Roy Olson and Richard Parish, infant daughter Audrey, daughter Sandra (Sandee) Kelly, siblings and their spouses, Ray, Esther (Dick) Miller, Roy (Shirley), Edward (Marian), Russel (Jean), Wilbur, Cecil (Alvina), Leo (Buddy), Bette Thomsen, and John.
A service of remembrance will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the funeral service at 2:00 p.m.Interment will be in the Birchwood Cemetery of Pine City.
