Angeline Pauline Booth

Angeline "Angie" Pauline Booth of Rush City died Saturday, February 2, 2013 at her home in Rush City at the age of 83. Angie was born May 23, 1929 at home in St. Anthony Village to Soren and Sophia (Hunt) Sorensen. She attended Edison High School and graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1947. The first sixteen years of her life she lived in St. Anthony Village and then her family moved to a farm in New Hope. While living in northeast Minneapolis, Angie worked for truck farmers picking strawberries, raspberries, rhubarb and extensive weeding. During WW II Angie and her brother worked at Pletscher's greenhouse. Her work career as a young adult included Donaldson's-Mail Order Department, State of Minnesota Flour Exchange and Northern States Power Co. Angie was married to Robert Booth August 13, 1950 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Columbia Heights. In September of that year, Bob entered the U.S. Army. When he returned in 1952, they lived in an apartment in north Minneapolis before moving to Rush City in 1953. Angie became an active participant in the Rush City community, her church, and Rush City Schools. During those early years while she was raising a family, Angie worked part-time at the Grant House Hotel, Rush City Bakery, Culligan, and ISD # 139, where she became the first female school bus driver; driving for many years. Angie was also the primary caregiver for her two parents who moved to Rush City in 1981. Angie had a busy life but in her pastime she enjoyed sewing, embroidering, reading, collecting, card and game playing and baking. A league bowler for 25 years, Angie enjoyed her evenings at the Pine City Bowling Alley. Both Bob and Angie were involved in the Minnesota Cushman Club. The couple could often be seen riding there matching Cushman Eagle motorbikes together on highway 61 and around town. They attended Cushman conventions in Iowa, Missouri, Wyoming and trips to the Black Hills. Angie was an active member of First Evangelical Lutheran since 1955, serving as LCW treasurer, church secretary, church librarian, Luther League parents and substitute Sunday school teacher. Angie was also a member of the Jasper #28 Order of the Eastern Star for 64 years where she held many positions. She was a member of the Rush Point Leisure Club, the American Legion Auxiliary for 59 years and a den mother in the local scouting program. In 2009, Angie and Bob were recipients of the Chisago County Outstanding Senior Citizen award. This award is sponsored by the Minnesota Board on Aging, the Minnesota State Fair and the Minnesota Federation of County Fairs and bestowed upon seniors who volunteer their time and energy after age 65. Angie is preceded in death by her parents Soren "Chris" & Sophia Sorensen, her sister Pat Hafermann, brothers: Carl Sorensen, Soren Chris, Jr. Sorensen; and loving son Dale Robert Booth. She is survived by her loving and caring husband Bob Booth, sons: Dean and his wife Debbie of Bremerton, Washington, Don Booth of Chaska; grandchildren: Nikki Podvin, Kanaly Booth, Kendrick Booth, Katelyn Booth, Samantha Booth, Charlene Booth; great grandchildren: Dakota, Cooper, Kortland and Kinley, and many other relatives and friends. A time of visitation is planned for Wednesday evening from 4-8 p.m. at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City and one hour prior to the service at the church. A prayer service conducted by the Order of the Eastern Star is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Wednesday evening during the visitation. Reverend Laurie O'Shea will officiate at memorial services; 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rush City. Honorary urn bearers include Neal Enzenauer, Kirk Enzenauer, Allan Johnson, Loren Olson, Loring Olson, Neil Anderson and Kurt Koroschetz.
