Gertrude Rootkie, of Pine City, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at her home on Cross Lake at the age of 92. Gertrude is survived by husband Paul Rootkie of Pine City, son Cary Rootkie and his wife Janet of Pine City, daughter Gail Hanson and her husband Charles of Blaine grandchildren: Bridget Ausmus, Brenda (Duwayne) Dahl, Paul Rootkie, Todd Hanson (Kate Pauly), Melanie Wallwork, Patrick Rootkie (Alexandria Hart), Matthew (Tami) Rootkie; great grandchildren: Amanda (Chad) Hopkins, Brad Ausmus, Dani Dahl, Jocelyn Dahl, J.C. McGeary, Chloe Wallwork, Alex Rootkie, Aaron Rootkie, Lily Rootkie; great great grandchildren: Jordan Moe, Garret Hopkins, Aryanna Hopkins; half brother Edmund Velaski, sisters-in-law: Elaine Valvoda and Sue Wilebski. Gertrude is preceded in death by her parents Joseph & Mary Wilebski, grandson Christopher Rootkie, great grandson Derek Rootkie, sisters: Antonia, Mary, Aniela, Jenny; brothers: Frank, William, Edmound, Joseph, Walter, Theodore, Thomas, Roman; half brothers: Raymond, William, John, and Robert. Monsignor Aleksander Suchan celebrated a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Church of Pine City. A time of visitation and reviewal was held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service and rosary on Monday, April 1, 2013 at Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City and one hour prior to the service at the church. Kevin and Joanne Cahill provided music. Casketbearers were Paul Rootkie, Todd Hanson, Patrick Rootkie, Matthew Rootkie, Brad Ausmus, and J.C. McGeary.
