Mel Geisler, age 71 of Pine City died Wednesday, April 10th at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth from a fall.Melvin was born to Bill & Velda Geisler on November 22, 1941 in Superior, Wisconsin. In his younger years Melvin enjoyed playing ball and managed ball teams and attended tournaments.
Melvin married Loretta on June 25, 1982. They made their home in East Beroun and have lived there for 32 years.Melvin was a truck driver for 28 years working for Allied Systems hauling new cars. He enjoyed hunting with friends and family, playing in pool leagues, horse shoe leagues and cribbage leagues and tournaments. He also enjoyed gardening, cooking and traveling to see his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Loretta, children: William (Holly) Geisler of Missouri, Ronald Hass, William Cummings, Sheldon (Allicia) Cummings, Shawn (Nikkie) Cummings all of Pine City. He is also survived by adopted daughter Kami Schmidt of Pine City, 8 granddaughters, 3 great grandchildren, brothers: Leroy (Sheila) Geisler of Fridley, Ken (Sue) Geisler of Pine City; sisters: Pat (Doug) Miska of Wyoming, Betty Ann (Dan) DeFries of California; brothers-in-law: Larry (Mary) Wiberg, Brian (Rita) Wiberg, David (Roxie) Wiberg; sisters-in-law: Christine (Jamie) Wiberg, Cathleen (Mike) Wiberg, Ruth (Jeff) Schummage, Theresa Wiberg; mother-in-law Arleen Wiberg, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and not to be forgotten his special friend Bruno.He is preceded in death by his parents William & Velda Geisler, sister Karen Finger, his infant brother Billy Geisler and father-in-law Clem Wiberg.A Celebration of Life Gathering for Mel Geisler will be held from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. Saturday, April 13th at the Pine City American Legion.Arrangements are with the Funeral and Cremation Service, Swanson Chapel of Pine City. www.funeralandcremationservice.com
