Ronald Joseph Bastyr, Jr.

November 3, 1954 — April 13, 2013

Ronald J. Bastyr Jr., aka "Papa B" of Pine City, formerly of Stillwater, passed away suddenly on Saturday April 13th at the age of 58. Ron was a devoted husband, father and papa. He loved spending time with his two adorable grandchildren, going on snowmobile rides, cruising up and down the Snake River on the pontoon, or just relaxing by the pool. He cherished every minute he could spend with them. Ron enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether he was building something, fishing or especially hunting. Most special to him was time spent at Deer Camp. He enjoyed spending time with his son, brothers, nephews, cousins and close family friends. His time at deer camp was special in so many ways, but returning home to his constant caring and loving wife was most important. Also there waiting for him were many dogs and cats over the years, looking out the window and down the road waiting to see his truck coming. Ron's other passion was his ability to build things with his own two hands. He and his son Ryan formed their own construction company specializing in home remodeling. He was so proud of him and the projects they completed together. Ron was well known in Pine City for his craftsmanship and hard work, but most of all his attention to detail, integrity and honesty. He will be dearly missed by everyone he knew. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 30 years Laurel, son Ryan (Karen) Bastyr of New Richmond, WI, grandchildren Reece and Rhaya, mother Marlene Bastyr of Fort Mohave, AZ, brothers: Randy (Debbie) Bastyr of Oakdale, Mike (Bonny) Bastyr of Clear Lake, WI, Mitch Bastyr of Shafer, Rick (Wendy) Bastyr of Bullhead City, AZ; brother-in-law Kirk (Cassy) Peterson of Kingston, WA, many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Ronald Bastyr Sr. Pastor Lyn Sahr will officiate at a Memorial Service for Ron; 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2013 at the Swanson Funeral Chapel. There will also be a time of visitation 1 hr. prior to the service at the Swanson Funeral Chapel. In memory of Ron; his family is requesting casual wear at his Celebration Service.
