Kenneth Roy Clepper was born on September 6, 1924 on a farm in rural Little Falls, Minnesota to Royal B. and Lulu (Campbell) Clepper. He attended a country school (district #117) north of Little Falls graduating from there in 1937. Kenneth worked in the area helping neighbor farms. After his formal schooling he eventually started driving a cab for the “Lyle Cab Co.” of Little Falls before entering the United States Navy in September of 1943 where he served as a coxswain on several navy ships during the height of WW II. In April of 1946, Kenneth was discharged and he returned to Minnesota to seek employment. He worked a number of jobs in the St. Paul area. Some of those were: Driving a cab for “Radio Cab Co.”, working for Gould Battery Co., and later for Unisys as a stockroom clerk. He began this job in 1967 and retired after 20 years in 1987. He had purchased a cabin from his parents and built a permanent home on Pokegama Lake near Pine City in the late 1970's. Here he began his retirement life.. He began to enjoy both ice and fresh water fishing on his homemade pontoon. He also enjoyed “tinkering”, a pastime that took up a lot of his time, and visiting with friends and neighbors. In 2010 Kenneth was hospitalized and later spent some time recuperating in a nursing home before moving back to his home. However, in August of 2011, he moved to Sophie’s Manor near Pine City where he died last Monday evening, May 13th at the age of 88.He is survived by brothers Donald Clepper of Cumberland, Wisconsin, Raymond (Shirley) Clepper of Chisago City, sister-in-law LaDonna Clepper of Pine City, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers: Peter, Lawrence and Carl Clepper.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 18th at Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Royalton, Minnesota.Arrangements are with the Funeral and Cremation Service - Swanson Chapel of Pine City
