James J. Raway Sr of Rush City, died May 30, 2013 at Golden Living Center in Rush City at the age of 81.
James was born in Golden Valley, on October 18, 1931 to Joseph and Margaret (King) Raway. He grew up on a farm in the Hastings area and was a proud veteran of the Korean War and a recipient of the Bronze Star.
He raised his family in St. Paul Park while working as a sheet metal worker for Bostrom Sheet Metal. In 1977 Jim and Betty moved to East Rush Lake and Jim continued to commute to work. When Jim was sixty he decided to retire to enjoy his love of the outdoors, fishing and hunting.
Jim was a great father and friend who will be dearly missed by all including his five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Preceding Jim in death are his parents Joseph and Margaret Raway, sons: James Jr., Dennis; brothers: Donald, Joseph; and sister Louise.
Jim is survived by his wife Betty of Rush City, son Ken (Beth) of Inver Grove Heights and sisters: Dorothy (Harold) Anderson of White Bear Lake, and Veronica (David) Lawrence of Danbury, WI.
Chaplain Joe Fredericks will officiate a memorial service; 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Rush City – 650 South Bremer Ave. Military honors will be provided by Grothe-Jacobson VFW Post #6692.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Funeral and Cremation Service – Olson Chapel of Rush City.
