Wallace Larry Volk of Rush City, died Friday May 31, 2013 at the age of 74, peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
Wally was born June 28, 1938 in Finlayson to William and Esther (Schultz) Volk. He attended Willow River High School before his journey through life.
Wally served in the United States Army from 1962-1964. After serving in the military, Wally returned to Minnesota and married his sweetheart Diane Jager. The majority of Wally’s work life was spent trucking, working construction and farming until his retirement in 2001 on his farm in Rush City.
Wally is survived by his wife of 48 years Diane (Jager) Volk, children: Rhonda (George) Betz of Andover, Daniel (Amy) Volk of Rush City, William (Michelle) Volk of Rush City, Denise (Danny) Olsen of Pine City, Pamela Volk of Bloomington; grandchildren: Chelsea Swanson, William Volk Jr., and Hailey Volk; sisters: Darlene (Joey) Odebraski of Florida, Delores (Gary) Harmon of Mora, brothers: Harvey (Doris) Volk of Sandstone, Harley (Jean) Volk of Sandstone; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Volk and Joyce Volk; many nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
He is preceded in death by his parents William & Esther (Schultz) Volk, brothers: Leroy Volk and Lloyd Volk.
Reverend John Beck will officiate funeral services; 2:00 p.m., Thursday (6/6/13), at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rush City. Music will be provided by Dick Scheele. Visitation will be Wednesday June 5 from 6-8 pm at the Olson Funeral Chapel. Casket bearers include: Roger Volk, Tony Volk, Larry Volk, Jerry Volk, Jerry Gerard, and Bob Novy. The interment will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery of Rush City.
