Edna Irene Miller

January 19, 1927 — July 2, 2013

Edna Miller of Rock Creek, died Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at her home at the age of 86. Edna was born to Eric and Ellen Seestrom of Ashland, WI. She attended Ashland High School and was active in the Salem Baptist Church. She attended Bethel College for one year and then Mounds Midway School of Nursing for three years. Following her graduation from Nursing school she attended St. Paul Bible College and the University of Minnesota. She worked at Wilmington. Del. General Hospital for a short time and then returned to St. Paul to work at Midway Hospital as a surgical nurse for several years. Edna also worked seven years as a clinical nurse for an orthopedic doctor group. In 1970, Edna married William Miller and the couple lived in Rock Creek, MN. where they resided for 42 years. While in Rock Creek she worked at the Grantsburg and Rush City Hospitals. Also during this time she began a furniture reupholstery business which she operated until her retirement. Edna is survived by her husband Bill Miller, sisters-in-law: June Seestrom of Grand Rapids, MI, Bonnie (Jim) Lilley of Chattanooga, TN, Brenda (Joe) Plyler of Longview, TX; brothers-in-law: Bob (Marge) Miller of Chattanooga, TN, Barry (Danna) Miller of Longview, TX and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and great great nieces and nephews and her canine companions Daisy and Kia. Edna is preceded in death by her parents Eric & Ellen Seestrom, sisters: Eleanor (George) Butts, Alice (Eldon) Robinson, Marion (Vernon) Metzdorf; and her brother Lyle Seestrom. She will be greatly missed by all her relatives and friends. Pastors Kelly Riggan and Ernest Bliss will officiate a memorial service for Edna Miller at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Mora Friendship Church of the Nazarene in Mora, MN - 525 2nd Street. Special music will be provided by Pastor Ernest and Myra Bliss and Ann Marie Johnson. A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the Olson Funeral Chapel of Rush City and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Ashland, Wisconsin.
