Fred Larson of Grasston passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at his home at the age of 80 after a long battle with COPD.
Frederick Victor Larson was born December 19, 1932 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota to Victor and Hannah (Anderson) Larson. He was raised in McGrath, Minnesota.
In 1952, he married June Schifsky. They had three sons and two daughters.
Fred served in the US Army during the Korean War from February 1953 to February 1955. He had various jobs during his life ending with T.A. Schifsky from which he retired in 1992. He also farmed in both Chisago and Pine counties.
Fred is survived by his wife June, children: Larry Larson and his wife Kim of Chisago City, David Larson and his wife Patty of Lindstrom, William Larson and his wife Karen of Lindstrom, Sharon Reis of Grasston, Julie Shogren and her husband Rick of Taylors Falls; 7 grandchildren, sister Katherine Muellner of Woodbury, many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Victor and Hannah Larson.
Funeral services for Fred Larson are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31st at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City. A time of visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30th and one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Pliny Cemetery in McGrath, Minnesota.
