Gary Harold Seedorff

Gary Harold Seedorff was born July 8, 1936 in Brook Park, Minnesota to Harold & Mabel (Jackson) Seedorff. He attended grade school at North Star school and also attended Pine City High School. Gary married Marvel Johnson in 1957. In 1959, they bought a farm in Brook Park and have lived there ever since. While farming, he also worked a few jobs throughout his life, commuted to Minneapolis, MN for work at Spencer Kellogg working in shipping/receiving, bagging, welding and production positions. He then joined the carpenters union installing bleachers at schools, health clubs and stadiums mainly in the Minneapolis metropolitan area. He also built many homes and cabins throughout Minnesota including his son and daughters homes. He was also known as the local handyman or repairman always fixing things and making new things. Gary enjoyed keeping their yard looking nice, planting and sharing items from his vegetable garden. He enjoyed biking, and walking the field. Birding was another enjoyment of Gary’s. He shared his knowledge of birding with his family; also making special bird feeders and bird houses for them. Together, Gary and Marvel loved spending time together fishing, camping and traveling not just in Minnesota, but all over North America. They wintered in Mission, Texas for several years, meeting great friends and family from all over the continent. During the summer months, they enjoyed camping with the Blue Lakers Camping Club and family and friends. Gary also enjoyed spending time with his family. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy. Gary died Friday July 26th, 2013 at his home in Brook Park, Minnesota at the age of 77. He is survived by his loving wife Marvel Seedorff of 56 years, four children: Debra Othoudt and her fiancé Joe Marohn, Donald Seedorff and his wife Barb, Kathryn Farr and her husband Ron, and Peggy Smith and her husband Mike. Also 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and sister Joan Simoneau. He is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Mabel Seedorff, brother Ernest Seedorff, grandson Dylan Seedorff, and son-in-law Marv Othoudt. Pastor Dave Dwyer will officiate a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the Henriette Community Church in Henriette. Jackie Lakin and Willie Frietag are providing music. A memorial visitation will be held from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at the Swanson Funeral Chapel in Pine City.
