Donald Harold Lind

Donald Harold Lind, 86, of Rush City, died Friday, August 2, 2013, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was born May 17, 1927, in Fish Lake township, Chisago County to Rueben and Mildred (Swanson) Lind. He attended a rural school through 8th grade and graduated from Rush City High School in 1945. He married Donna Ramberg on August 15, 1953. They lived in Minneapolis for a few years before moving back to the Rush City area, eventually returning to the family farm. Don has been employed as an equipment operator, over-the-road trucker, electrician, and dump-truck driver. He retired from Olson General Contractors, where he worked most of his years. When at home, he farmed the land and helped his neighbors with snow removal and other needs. He was well-known at Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rush Point, where he was usher, bell-ringer, money counter, handyman and committee/council member. He enjoyed snowmobiling and was an active member of the Rush City Sno- Bugs. He enjoyed many activities, especially his years of driving his Farmall Regular tractor at the Almelund Threshing Show. Don will be remembered for his strong work-ethic, his friendly manner and his dedication to family and friends. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed. Donald is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Donna Lind of Rush City; two sons, Terry (Patty) Lind of Braham, Tom Lind of Rush City; a daughter, Tammy Lind, of Rochester, two grandsons, Doug (Katie) Lind of Kandiyohi, Jamie Lind of Braham; great-granddaughter (Caroline); a brother Art Lind of Shoreview; sister-in-law Janice Lind of Rush City, brother-in-law Curt Olson of Rush Point and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Eugene “Pete” Lind, sisters Helen (Chuck) Zemek and Clarice Olson and his sister-in-law Jean Lind. Rev. Keith Kolzow will officiate at funeral services; 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 6, 2013, at the Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rush Point. Music will be provided by organist Janice Johnson and soloist Jon Lueth. A time of visitation and reviewal is planned for Monday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the Olson Chapel in Rush City as well as one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. The interment will be in the church cemetery with Doug, Jamie, Steve and Greg Lind, Todd Ramberg and Larry Krysinski acting as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will include Marvin Kjos and Walt Larson. Memorials may be directed to the Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church.
