Joyce Elaine (Wohlwend) Nicoll of Pine City, MN passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug 28, 2013 at the First Light Hospital in Mora, MN after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 80.
Joyce was born January 8, 1933 in Barnesville MN to William and Mable Wohlwend. Joyce married Laural Nicoll on March 30, 1951 in Pine City at Pine City Methodist Church Parsonage. Together they raised three children Teresa, Donna, and Butch.
Joyce worked at many occupations; including the Coffee Shop in Pine City where she was a role model for many children. Her favorite job was running Nicoll’s Café in Pine City where she worked with each and every one of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed hanging out with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She loved waterskiing, fishing, and any outdoor activities.
She is survived by daughters: Teresa (Jeff) Arnott and Donna (Rich) Briski; son Grant "Butch" (Lynn) Nicoll. Grandchildren: Chad (Jessie) Briski, Alan (Mary) Bergstrom, DeDe (Tommy) Foster, Diana Stromquist, Grant (Brittany) Nicoll, Dale (Lisa) Stromquist, Alicia Arnott, and Amber Nicoll (Nick); 15 great grandchildren with one on the way. They all reside in Pine City.
Joyce is also survived by her brother Dick (Kathy) Wohlwend, sisters-in-law: Jackie Wohlwend, Fran Wohlwend, Vera Vesley, and Leona (Turk) Carlson and brother-in-law David (Allison) Nicoll.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband Laural Grant Nicoll, mother and father William & Mable, two brothers Bill Wohlwend and Bob Wohlwend, sister Virginia Bission, sister-in-law Eunice Nicoll, and nephews George Nicoll and Randy Carlson.
Brad and Julie Samuelson will officiate funeral services for Joyce; Saturday; 11 a.m., at the Swanson Chapel in Pine City with a time of visitation planned for Friday evening from 4-7 p.m.; everything at the Swanson Chapel in Pine City.
Interment will be in the Birchwood Cemetery of Pine City.
