Jane "Janie" Marie Jacobson

March 21, 1960 — September 1, 2013

Jane (Janie) Marie was born on March 21, 1960 in Rush City, MN to Bernard and Carol Kirchberg. She was the oldest child, with five siblings to follow; Jody, Patty, Paula, Greg, and David. As a family, they attended the Catholic Church every Sunday, made countless trips to the cabin at Cass Lake, and ate dinner together every night, at precisely 6:00 p.m. Janie was the fearless leader of the group, always there for guidance, a loving and helping hand, and a good laugh. Janie attended Rush City Schools and graduated with honors from Rush City High School in 1978. She played in band, stage band, choir, was a cheerleader, and a member of National Honor Society. She was outgoing, friendly and well liked, and was elected Homecoming Queen of her senior class. She very much enjoyed her school years. Janie was a Registered Nurse and was passionate about working with and educating the public. After graduating from St. Catherine’s University in St. Paul, MN in 1982, she worked as an RN for St. Mary’s Hospital in Minneapolis until 1984, when she began to work as a Public Health Nurse for Ramsey County and then Chisago County. In 1992, Janie began working as Family Planning Clinic Coordinator for Chisago County Outlook Clinic. She so enjoyed working there, promoting women’s health issues. She worked as a Licensed School Nurse for Rush City Schools from 1998 to 1999 and then for Chisago Lakes School District from 2002 to 2013, when she accepted her most recent position as Licensed School Nurse for Mounds View School District. In 1981, she married Robert Jacobson with whom she had three children: Ryan, Kelly and Sarah. Bob and Janie created a wonderful life together for their family in Lindstrom, MN. She adored Bob and they were a team, always moving together hand-in-hand. She was very involved with her children and always recognized birthdays and milestones with a celebration to let them know how proud of them she was. Her boys went off to the Marines as young men and Janie was incredibly supportive. And she beamed when Sarah recently graduated from St. Catherine’s University, Janie’s alma matter. Her grandson Dane was born and added another bright light to her life, she absolutely loved him. She was an exceptionally kind and loving wife and mother, with a great sense of humor and a huge heart. Not a day went by without a bit of music and laughter in her life. She was a wonderful piano player who shared that talent throughout her life through church, family and friends. She loved to garden and her beautiful flowers adorned her deck. And you would very often find her relaxing with a good book and a cup of coffee in her hand. Janie cared deeply and loved passionately in every area of her life – personally, professionally and politically. She was an absolute light in the lives of family and friends. Supportive, thoughtful, loving, and ‘oh so loved to have fun’. Her giggle was contagious and no one was more fun to sit and have a glass of wine with. She will be missed dearly.
