Nickolas “Nick” Buehring of Rush City passed away Sunday (10/20/13) at the Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis at the age of 65 years.
Nick was born on October 27th, 1947 in Rush City, MN. He was the son of Edwin and Phyllis Buehring. He attended Rush City schools, graduating in 1965 and then attended the University of Minnesota for one year.
He was united in marriage to Diane Smith on June 24th, 1967. Their lives revolved around the farm, children’s and grandchildren’s activities, the Chisago County Fair and numerous other agriculture events. For the past 1 ½ years, he has been battling the effects of esophageal and bone cancer.
Nick spent his entire life on the family dairy farm. He took over the farm as the 4th generation, now two sons are continuing as the 5th generation. Over the years, Nick was a part of the Jaycees and in recent years has been active in the Minnesota Holstein Association.
Nick Buehring is survived by his wife Diane; children: Chad and Lynn Buehring of Rush City, Brandon and Erin Buehring of Pine City, Justin & Sabrina Buehring of North Branch, Shauna & John Offer of Auburndale, Wisconsin, Blake & Ashley Buehring of Elbow Lake, grandchildren: Katelyn Buehring, Madyson Bombard, Paige Bombard, Zoey Buehring, Austin Buehring, Hunter Offer, Peyton Offer and Charlie Buehring; his mother Phyllis Buerhing of Rush City, sister Pam and Ron Tichy of Cape Coral, Florida, Father-in-law Clarence Smith of Chisago City.
Nick is preceded in death by his father Edwin Buehring, grandson Connor Buehring, mother-in-law Verla Smith, brothers-in-law: Doug Smith and Randy Smith; aunt Renie Robar, uncles: Chuck Robar and Jack McGoon.
Rev. John Beck will officiate at funeral services for Nick Buehring; 11 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2013 at St. John's Lutheran Church. A time of visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. on Friday evening also at St. John's Lutheran. The interment will be in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery at Rush Lake.
