Dean Carl LeMon

Dean LeMon, of Grantsburg, formerly of Rush City, passed away at his home on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at the age of 50. Dean Carl LeMon was born to Waldemar and Colleen (Watson) LeMon on January 31, 1963 in Rush City, Minnesota at the Rush City Hospital. Due to a difficult child birth Dean was born with cerebral palsy. But he always wanted to do things for himself. He attended Lakeville School in Worthington, MN from Kindergarten through 5th grade, Rush City School from 6th grade through 12th grade graduating in 1983. A highly intelligent student, Dean was moved up a grade and skipped 7th grade. During his last years in high school he worked for Bev’s Green House in Rush City doing the billing. John O’Brien, one of Dean’s teachers, got Dean interested in ham radio operations when he was in high school and then went to the Courage Center to learn more. He then passed his test and got his ham radio license. Despite the effects of Cerebral Palsy, Dean worked as an attendant for a handicapped person. Dean liked the outdoors, fishing and hunting and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Dean is survived by his mother Colleen Larson and her husband Walter of Rush City, brothers: David LeMon and Dennis LeMon of Rush City; nephews David John LeMon and Travis LeMon and his wife Theresa of Pine City; niece Brea LeMon of Rush City, aunts: Ruth Mourning of New Prague, Linda (Marv) Blomquist of North Branch; uncle Gilbert (Marj) Watson of Ham Lake, great nephews David, Austin, Mason and great niece Madisson. He was preceded in death by his father Waldemar LeMon, and his dog Shadow that he loved very much. Reverend Laurie O'Shea will officiate a funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush City. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery of Rush City.
