Eugene (Gene) Francis Kubesh, 73 of Pine City, passed away on Nov. 23, 2013 at Abbott Hospital in Minneapolis.
Gene was born March 18, 1940 to Frank and Viola Kubesh on the family farm near Beroun, Minnesota. He attended school in Beroun and Pine City. He began his working career as a welder for the Twin City Arsenal. Shortly thereafter he purchased his farm near Beroun. He also went on to own and operate a milk route in the local area.
In October 1966 he married his wife Joan and two years later they began their family. He enjoyed the daily life of being with his family and working on the farm. Throughout the years he worked full time on the farm with outside jobs including working at Kajo, Kutzke Oil, and driving school bus for Pine City and Hinckley. However, farming remained his number one passion.
Gene never stopped making new friends or lending a helping hand to anyone in need. He enjoyed attending and working with his Church, working on the Pokegama Planning Commission and various other events. His most enjoyable time was spent with his wife, kids, grandkids, family and friends and reminiscing with everyone.
Gene is survived by his wife Joan Kubesh, daughter Tamara (George) Tricas; sons Ronnie (Anne) Kubesh, Curt (Aimee) Kubesh, 7 grandkids; Jenna Kubesh, Brenton Kubesh, Hunter Kubesh, Sami Kubesh, Nikko Tricas, Tucker Kubesh and Averee Kubesh; his mother Viola Johnson, his brother Archie (Joyce) Kubesh, his sister Sharlene (Ron) Hanson, sister-in-law Evelyn (Gene) Jewell, Brothers-in-law: John (Sandy) Bergwick, Roy Bergwick; many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his son Kevin Kubesh, his father Frank Kubesh, and Grandparents Frank & Mary Kubesh, Anna & John Karas, mother-in-law and father-in-law Christ & Louise Bergwick.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday (11/30/2013) at the Swanson Funeral Chapel. A time of visitation and reviewal will be held on Friday evening from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday also at the Swanson Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Union-Hustletown Cemetery in Chengwatana Township east of Pine City.
