Mr. Warren Johnson; a life-long resident of Harris, MN; passed away Tuesday (11/26/13) at Grace Point Crossing-Gables East in Cambridge, MN at the age of 91 years and 9 months.
Warren was born February 27, 1922 to Henry & Hulda Johnson of Harris.
He faithfully attended Harris Covenant Church. Over the years he served as Sunday School Bus driver, Superintendent, teacher and treasurer.
Called to duty in the U. S. Army later in WWII, Warren was on a troop ship as part of the invasion forces sailing for Japan when the war ended. He served with the occupation forces in Japan and was honorably discharged in 1946.
On June 5, 1949, Warren was united in marriage to Mary Ann Maack, making their home on the farm where he was born.
Warren enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing and being with his family. He served the town of Harris for over two decades as councilman and then mayor. In addition to farming he also worked at General Safety for 24 years building fire trucks.
Warren Johnson is survived by his wife Mary Ann; children Timothy Johnson and wife Carol of Willmar, Richard Johnson and wife Jenny, Diane Miller, Sandra Goranson and husband Jim and Butch Johnson all of Harris. Warren is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Warren is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Hulda Johnson, infant son Warren, great grandson Rylan Miller and son-in-law Dale Miller.
Pastor Steve Weihsmann will officiate at a funeral service for Warren Johnson; 11:00 a.m. on Monday (12/2/13) at the Harris Covenant Church in Harris. A time of visitation and reviewal is scheduled for Sunday from 4-7 p.m. also at Harris Covenant Church.
The interment will take place in the Oak Grove Cemetery at Harris.
Memorials are preferred to the Harris Covenant Church.
