Joyce Lofgren of Harris, MN; passed away Wednesday (11/27/13) at her home in Harris, MN at the age of 86.
Joyce was born on the Daw farmstead just southwest of Rush City. She and her family moved to Rush City as a child. She attended school in Rush City, Minnesota and graduated in 1946.
During the summer she worked as a secretary at Montgomery Wards. In 1948 she married Arvid Lofgren at 1st Lutheran Church of Rush City. Together they raised two children, Kathleen and Merle, and worked hard on the family farm.
Later on Joyce returned to the workforce as a secretary for the Rush City Police Station and S.C.R.E.D. She enjoyed many hobbies like gardening, cooking and baking, which won her several ribbons at the Chisago County fair.
For several years she was involved as a leader for the Willow Grove 4H club and was recognized for her service.
Joyce always made others feel like they were the only person in the world. Her faith, her strength and her dedication to family will forever be remembered.
Joyce Lofgren is survived by her husband Arvid; children: Merle "Pete" Lofgren and Lori Blomquist of Harris, and Kathleen Nelson and husband Wayne of Braham; grandchildren: Chad Nelson and his wife Holly of Braham, Jenny Wolvers and husband Tom of North Branch, Jerry Lofgren and his wife Jessica of Harris and Joe Lofgren and his wife Stefanie of Rock Creek; great grandchildren: Trevor Wolvers, Nicholas Nelson, Tyler Wolvers, Lydia Nelson, James, Libby and Caleb; sisters Doris Lofgren of Wyoming, Iris Farnell and husband Bob of Bloomington.
She is preceded in death by her parents Charles & Nora (Gehl) Daw, brother Harland Daw, daughter-in-law Mary Lofgren and in-laws Paul and Anna Lofgren.
Pastor Laurie O’Shea will officiate at funeral services for Joyce Lofgren at 2:30 p.m., Monday, December 2, 2013 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush City. A time of visitation and reviewal will be Sunday evening from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. also at First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush City. Interment will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery of Rush City.
Memorials are preferred to the: First Ev. Lutheran Church Mortgage Fund.
