Myron Olson was born in Sunrise Township on March 15, 1923. He was baptized and confirmed in the Mission Covenant faith.
Myron attended the Malcom District 56 Country School through 8th grade. He was an active member of the Ferry Beavers 4H Club. Myron graduated from Rush City High School in 1941 and worked on the family farm until 1945. He married Audrey Mell October 21, 1945 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush City. To this union three children were born: Lee, Patricia and Steven, and two grandchildren Benjamin and Chad Baker.
Myron served on the First Lutheran church council and the Rush City Village council. He was active participant in the Boy Scout program. Myron was employed by Midland Co-Op Association, Interstate Lumber Company and retired from working twenty years at Amber Milling Company in Rush City in 1986.
Myron and Audrey celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1995, and their 65th wedding anniversary in October 2010.
Myron is survived by his wife Audrey, sons Lee Olson of New Hope, Steve Olson of Brooklyn Center and daughter Pat Baker of Fall Creek, Wisconsin; grandson Benjamin Baker also of Fall Creek, Wisconsin, siblings: Lucille Fugina of St. Paul, Lester Olson and his wife Katherine of St. Paul, Gene Olson of Bloomington; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Roy & Inez (Lander) Olson, and grandson Chad Baker.
Myron Olson passed away on Saturday evening, November 30th at Golden Living Center in Rush City at the age of 90.
Reverend Laurie O'Shea officiated at funeral services; 11:00 a.m., Saturday December 7, 2013 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rush City. A time of visitation and reviewal was held one hour prior to the service. The interment took place in the First Lutheran Cemetery of Rush City with the following active casket bearers: Brian Olson, David Olson, Craig Mell, Jeff Fugina, Keith Dahlberg and Ken Mell. Honorary casket bearers included: Myron's God children; Jim Severson, Debra Starloch, Lisa Olson, Peter Olson, Allan Ringer, Nancy Lewis and Donnette Wheelock; other honorary casket bearers included Raymond Mell, Harold Eklund, David Nelson, Rabs Anderson, Duane Moulton, Brad Johnson and Eddie Rohlf.
