Mrs. Inez Chelberg of Rush City, passed away Wednesday (12/4/13) at the Golden Living Center in Rush City at the age of 95.
Inez Chelberg was born June 27, 1918 by Skogman Lake in Chisago County to John and Alma Swedberg. Inez was an identical twin sister to Millie LeMay. She attended North Pine Lake Country School near Stark and Cambridge High School. In her younger years, Inez and sister Millie would play guitar and harmonize for fun and entertainment.
Inez worked for the Cambridge Hotel as a waitress and married Roger Chelberg in 1939. The couple moved to Minneapolis where Inez worked at the Twin Cities Arsenal in New Brighton. She later, worked at the Benada Window Factory for 25 years.
Inez was married to Roger Chelberg for 50 years when he passed away. They had three children; Dennis, Tom and Joanne.
In 1981, Inez and Roger retired to live with twin sister Millie on Horseshoe Lake. Inez attended the Dale Baptist Church and has been a member of the Rush City Baptist Church for 30 years. She accepted Christ at an Oral Roberts event in Minneapolis.
In 2001, Inez and Millie moved into the Rush Oaks Apartments and eventually the Countryside Senior Apartments. The last two years of her life has been spent at the Golden Living Center in Rush City.
Inez Chelberg is survived by her twin sister Mildred LeMay of Rush City, children: Thomas Chelberg and wife Betty of Coon Rapids, Joanne Demler of Emporia, Kansas; 12 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews.
Inez was preceded in death by her parents John and Alma Swedberg, husband Roger Chelberg, son Dennis Chelberg and siblings Reynold, Jenny and Ruby Odmark.
Pastor David Melin officiated at a funeral service for Inez; Thursday (12/12/13) at 11:00 a.m. at the Rush City Baptist Church; with a time of visitation and reviewal one hour prior to the service at the Rush City Baptist Church. A spring inurnment is planned in the Fish Lake Baptist Cemetery at Dale.
