Ruth Elizabeth Steele

Ruth Steele of Pine City died Thursday, December 19, 2013 at her home at the age of 76. Ruth was a devoted wife and mother. Loved by so many that knew her. She had an amazing free spirit and made friends and conversation with all. She had such a silly sense of humor and a great love for nature. Through all her medical struggles she truly made the most of her life. We will miss her physical presence but she will forever remain in our hearts. Ruth is survived by her husband Roger, children: Julie (Mark) Johnson of Yuma, AZ, Cheryl (Mike) Krech of Woodbury, Patti (Mark) Chouanard of Columbia, TN, Roger (Michelle) Steele of North Branch, Karen Janny of Olympia, WA, Brad (Jenna) Steele of Pine City; sister Jude (Bob) Scholz of Woodbury, grandchildren: Lyndsey Johnson, Caitlyn (Ryan) Pope, Haley Johnson, Ruth Krech, Judith Krech, Jacob Krech, Andrew (Jordan) Chouanard, Hannah Chouanard, Natalia Prozumenchikova, Beth (Josh Bombardo) Steele, Emily Steele, Laura Steele, Lillian Steele, Steve (Ashley) Janny, Fran (Aaron Buechel) Janny, Rachel (Brandon Alderman) Janny, Remington Steele, Alaina Steele; great-grandchildren: Paisley, Barrett, and Jewel Chouanard, Beau Lindell, and baby Janny; many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents Jim and Ruth (Van Deusen) Gillis. Reverend Mark Johnson (Ruth’s son-in-law) will officiate the memorial service for Ruth Steele at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church in Pine City. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
