Darlene Evelyn Zvara

Darlene Evelyn (Christenson) Zvara, 79, formerly of Bemidji, MN passed away Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Rush City, MN.Darlene was born June 13, 1934 in Bemidji, MN, the daughter of Arthur and Edith (Gregerson) Christenson. She was raised in the outskirts of Bemidji in the little town of Turtle River, and educated in Bemidji, MN, where she lived most of her life. While living there, she had two children: Arthur and Mary. She enjoyed keeping busy with her church, baking, sewing, and taking long walks.She then moved to Duluth, MN where she resided for a few years. After a few moves, she settled in Rush City, MN, where she resided before her passing. Her greatest joys while there were reminiscing with her grandchildren about her younger years and watching movies with her granddaughter Alexis.  She is survived by her daughter, Mary (David) Schmidt of Rush City; three grandsons – Jacob, David, and Nicholas Schmidt, all of Rush City; one granddaughter – Alexis Schmidt of Rush City; one great-granddaughter – Kiersten Schmidt of Rush City; one sister - Anita (Robert) Spangler of Bemidji; two brothers – Darrel (Katina) Christenson of Athens, Greece and Leonard (Eileen) Christenson of Bemidji; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur; mother, Edith; and son, Arthur. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on January 18, 2014 at the Tenstrike Community Church in Tenstrike, MN.
