Fern Marie Menke

Fern Marie Menke (Gilbertson), formerly of Mpls. Passed away peacefully with family at her home in Edgewater Assisted Living, Pine City on Fri. evening, Jan. 3rd where she has spent the last seven years of her life. Fern was born March 29, 1925 and attained the age of 88. She enjoyed many years of sewing, painting, spending time with her family and being the best mother ever. She was a member of Minnehaha Chapter #37 Order of Eastern Star, Past Worthy Matron in Elmhurst, Illinois and over 50 yrs of membership in the Star. Fern is survived by daughters Connie (Daniel) Tierney of Victoria, MN, Lois Lees Mattson of Blaine, MN, 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and sister Marcella Aurness of Brooklyn Center, MN. She was preceded in death by parents Viola & Thorlief Gilbertson, husband Wayne Menke, granddaughter Heather Tierney, sons-in-law Richard Lees & Jerry Mattson, brothers-in-law Kenneth Menke & Harold Aurness. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Swanson Funeral Chapel, 665 3rd Ave. SW, Pine City with visitation ½ hour before the service.
